darlin' I'M EVERYBODY'S TYPE The moment that Doc had been waiting for had finally arrived. He had been waiting a few years ever since his return . . . ever since finding out that Willa was killed. The guilt had hit him hard, but Ward had not been what the other Earps were. Undeserving of the honour of such a title. Doc tried to stop him where he could, but at the end of the day . . . the man refused to let him interfere. Refused his help. And once he found out he was talking to Bobo Del Rey, Doc knew he was too fargone.
So he had left, swearing to return when Willa was of age to be the heir. But, when he returned . . . nothing was as expected. He'd learned of what happened to the Earps, and it broke his heart to see the family end up in such a way. He'd learned of Wynonna's history, yet wanted to see her and get to know her. He wanted to hold faith that they would be better than Ward. That they would make Wyatt proud and perhaps, even end this curse. So, in true Earp fashion, he knew that Wynonna would come here. Which was why he was just sitting in the shadows, waiting for her to enter and it had only taken a couple hours before she did. Seeing her all grown up, brought a smile to Doc's lips and all he could do for the time being, was watch her.

Ok! So she was the heir! Alright. She knew that meant there was things to do but she didn't want to do them and this town already hated her. She wanted to go and get out of here, but the moment she walked off the bus everyone was up in her business. Uncle Curtis had died and on the homestead too. And she liked him too, which is why it bothered her. She wanted to find out how he died and make sure they paid. Then look to leaving.
Pushing open the bar door to Shorties, she walked in and stopped at the bar. "Whiskey." After ordering her drink she drank it down in one sip, before looking around. Not many people where here but she did notice a few. Most of which she knew, but one of which she didn't. Wait, did she? No. Maybe. Nah. Eh. Everyone knew everyone here, but she didn't care if she didn't know one person's name. Still, it was a pity he looked that good and she didn't remember him. "I love it when boys grow up." She muttered to herself, taking another glass of whiskey and walking toward the man. He looked like her next mistake, and one hell of a good distraction. Please look as good out of your pants! "What's a guy like you doing in a place like this?"

darlin' I'M EVERYBODY'S TYPE My, my how she was all grown up. While he hadn't known the girls well -- he had left before then -- seeing her now felt . . . well, she was damn beautiful that was for sure. He was getting ready to go up to her when he noticed her look his way. Enough that she got to her feet and approached him. For a split second, he wondered if she somehow recognized him.
But the way she walked, the expression on her face and the words that followed . . . clearly indicated that she did not. "Ma'am," he greeted, touching the rim of his hat and he sat a bit more upright. Oh if only she knew the true answer to the question. He was here for her. He was here in the bar because he owned it. But no. He knew he had to ease into things. "Perhaps waiting for a woman such as yourself," he said, meaning for it to be charming yet . . . the words held the weight of truth. "Care to join me?" He asked, extending his hand towards the seat across from him.

Oh sweet buttered biscuits he sounded pretty too. Smiling she tilted her head, "Yes, I care to join you." It was quite mocking him but it wasn't completely not either. It was done in fun nature. Taking the seat there, she sat her cup down on the table, but kept it close to her. Years of hitting the cities had taught her to always protect her glass. Not that she thought every man was shady, but she wasn't going to get caught with her pants down. . . . not for this reason anyway.
"Wynonna," She introduced herself, but didn't offer her hand or anything. Just told him her name. AND kinda hoped he wasn't around here and didn't know she was the town crazy! That she shot her Daddy, and ranted about demons for years until they locked her in a mental ward and did shock treatments; and after she learned to fake normal and get out of there she proceed to drink and sleep her way through the high school boys, while getting arrested for about everything she did.

darlin' I'M EVERYBODY'S TYPE He gave a small smile as she accepted his request, taking a seat across from him and then casually introducing herself. Wynonna. How she reminded him of Wyatt. More so than any of the other heirs. He had not failed to notice that Peacemaker wasn't at her side, but perhaps it was safely at . . . wherever she was residing. He'd gone to the Homestead already and it looked unlived in. Best guess was that she was staying with Gus.
"John," he introduced. Best stick to a generic, popular name than his well known one. 'Doc' might be a bit too alarming right now and he knew he'd have to ease her into this. If that was even possible. "Haven't seen you around," he added, filling his glass with whiskey, noticing she still had enough in her own cup. "You just passing through?" A more relevant question unlike ones that he already knew the answer to. Truth was, he wanted to try and see what her mindset was; whether she was planning on staying or just came for the funeral. He wanted to see just how much convincing he may have to do. For it was time they broke this curse once and for all.

John. How very Purgatory of him. He filled his glass and she noticed that they had the same taste in whiskey at least. If he had a bottle, she would be more then willing to share it. Half and half! . . . . 70/30! Depending on how fast he drank it. It was his last question that made the glass pause going up to her lips, but only for the shortest of seconds. Was here here or passing through. Waverly popped in her mind.
"Here for longer then I'd liked to be." She told him, not quite sure how best to answer since she didn't know her plans right now. On one hand she wanted to leave now, and Gus even tried to pay her money to go for 'Waverly's sake'. On the other, Curtis was killed by something, and she wasn't about to just walk away from that. He had been good to her. She had to find out what killed him. "Don't remember you from around here as a kid. What makes a man move to a town called Purgatory?" Because she was willing to bet it was nothing good.

darlin' I'M EVERYBODY'S TYPE Here for longer than she liked. Even Doc knew the 'mysterious' circumstances surrounding Curtis' death when it wasn't mysterious at all. Perhaps, she was already starting to fulfil her role as an heir for the path it would lead her down . . . was one that surely involved Revenants. Taking a drink, he listened as she pointed out that she didn't remember him from around here.
No. She wouldn't. She was far too young. Though seeing how things ended up . . . he regretted leaving. He should have fought against Ward harder. "Oh, I've been in and out," he answered truthfully. "Purgatory does not seem like the kind of place you can stay away from forever. It always draws you back." He paused for a moment and looked at her with a hint for a smile. "You, being a prime example of that." Her and him both, only for . . . somewhat different reasons but ultimately, with the same goal: to break the curse. Whether she realized it yet or not.

In and out? He got out and came back? Why? Wynonna didn't ask because she wasn't about to go down the 'share and care' memory lane with a stranger when she barley went down it with her own self. So instead she took a long drink of her whiskey and then reached for the bottle to top it off with--not asking, just assuming he'd let her.
"Well, John," She began, a little sass mixed with a little flirt. "Whatever brought you back to a town with as bad a name as this one, maybe we can help make your stay a little more fun." She was testing the waters to see if he might be fun to play some pool with, and then let her take him back to HIS motel (please don't be staying with your Mama) and play with his pool stick.

darlin' I'M EVERYBODY'S TYPE Doc continued to smile at her. Oh if only things weren't so . . . complicated, they could surely have some fun. Even if it was just limited to this flirtatious banter. But he knew there was only so long he could withhold the truth from her. Though she said she was here longer than she liked, he didn't know if that meant she was here for good.
Finishing his whiskey from his glass, he casually filled it up again once she had filled hers, and took another drink. He then slightly leaned forward towards her. "And how exactly do you propose we do that?" He asked, the same playful tone she held. Oh yes. If only things weren't so complicated indeed. This however, was not part of the plan. The plan was to help the heir, not to . . . flirt and let himself get infatuated by her. Though she was after all, the first female Earp heir.

His grin drew her in and made her smile in return. "Oh, I am sure we could find a few adult games to amuse us thought the afternoon." She told him, leaning in as well and letting her voice hold double meanings. Her fingers circled the rim of her glass slowly while she let the words hand in the air between them like a promise, and a tease. She made sure the silence was just enough that he knew what she was offering.
Later.
"Like pool!" Standing she grabbed her drink and backed the few steps over tot he pool table. No one was using it right now, so she sat her drink the rim and walked around it to collect the balls to begin racking them. "I assume someone who looks so at ease in a bar knows how to play?" She asked, just making sure.

darlin' I'M EVERYBODY'S TYPE Adult games. Oh she was brazen, and how he was thoroughly enjoying it. She quickly got up, grabbing her drink and moving towards the pool table. He supposed he could stall the conversation for a little while longer. He downed the rest of his shot and made his way to where she was, taking one of the sticks that was mounted on the wall nearby.
"Oh, I think I can manage." Yes. Yes he did know how to play. He'd had a lifetime of practice with pool, not to mention he owned the bar which provided him with a lot of time to 'practice'. Standing behind her he leaned in a little over her shoulder to her hear. "I won't try to hustle you or anythin'," he teased, before stepping to the side of the table and polishing the tip of his stick. "You can even break," he offered. He was a gentleman after all.

Yeah, she liked that. The way he talked in her ear made her bit her lip a little. "An honest gentlemen?" She pointed out, since he promised not to hustle her and even let her go first. "And here I thought you were my type." Another tease, because she had made it clear he was. However, the good guys weren't normally the ones that ended up in bars in shady towns and looking at hot messes like her.
She bent low over the table and lined up her shot, making sure that he had a good view down her shirt before she took it. The balls scattered as she stood. "Soilds," were going to be her color since that was what went in. Moving crossed in front of him, making sure her jean clad ass brushed up against him as she did. "I'll just slide by here." Then she took another shot. It bounced off the wall, it was his turn.

darlin' I'M EVERYBODY'S TYPE He smiled with amusement at her tease, eyes briefly watching her, fully aware of what she was doing. Not that she was trying to be subtle about it. In another life. Under different circumstances. He would hardly have thought twice. But once she knew the truth about him . . . well, he wasn't entirely certain how she would feel. She called, and as she slid by him, brushing against him, he just continued to smile. "Please do," he encouraged, not shifting to give her more space.
Hell, he was rather enjoying the playful tease between them. But, had to force his mind to remember why he was back here. When it was his turn he eyed the table, before lining up the shot. Over a hundred years certainly helped a person perfect their game. Positioning himself, he hit the ball and landed two in the pocket. "I do apologize," he began to say, walking over a few steps to prepare his next shot. "I was unable to attend your uncle's service." Shooting the ball and landing another in the pocket. His words revealing he knew exactly who she was . . . mixed with genuine regret of not being able to go. But if he had, Gus would have recognized him and he needed to speak to Wynonna first before her aunt told her anything about him. He did however visit the grave afterwards, and paid his respects.

Fuck.
Wynonna froze for a moment, taken off guard. She hated being caught unaware. She'd assumed the sexy stranger was just that, but apparently he knew who she was. He could taken 100 shots that moment because she wasn't playing attention to the game. "You knew him?" She told him, while trying to figure out if she should know him.
Her uncle's death was why she was still in town. She knew that it wasn't natural like Gus said. There was too many details that didn't add up. If Gus wasn't going to push it then she would. And Wynonna was a heavy pusher. Later. Right now she was trying to place this face, and find out how he fit in here. "That why you're here?"

darlin' I'M EVERYBODY'S TYPE Did he know him. Yes. Yes he did. It had been some time since he had seen him; before Ward had all but shoved him out of the Earps life. Curtis was a good person though; as was Gus. "Last I saw him was many years ago," he revealed, hitting another ball into the pocket. The attention was moving further away from the game as the conversation became more . . . revealing. And Doc knew that they didn't have much time to waste.
It was only a matter of time until Wynonna asked Gus about him. And he wanted her to hear it from him, not a third party. "Shame about what happened to him," Doc continued, lining up for another shot. "Natural causes, I believe they're sayin'." Bullshit. He knew damn well it wasn't natural causes. And if Wynonna had her great great grandfather's instincts, she would know it too. He lined himself up for another shot, saying the next words just as his stick hit the ball. "And here I thought it was Revenants." Play time was over.
