Business was good. Really good. Despite that however, they had a lot of debt. Well, not technically them. The owner before them who seemed to vanish into thin air. For a town this small, he shouldn't be that difficult to find. Unless he fled quickly out of town? So many questions raced through Lucas' mind but he knew he may never get an answer to them. So all he could do was focus on the now . . . and the now, demanded a whole lotta cash. He was taking over the front counter while his friend was away for a bit. It was out of his element in a way since he expected to be more, behind the scenes but they didn't have a choice. They couldn't afford to close even for a day. Lucas was wiping one of the tables when he saw someone walk in. Putting the cloth in the pocket of his apron he turned to face her, a smile upon his lips in greeting. "Welcome," he smiled. His eyes couldn't help but lower as he noticed there was more than one to welcome. "Congratulations!" He added. That was after all what one said to a woman who was expecting, right? |
