darlin' I'M EVERYBODY'S TYPE Henry had to admit, he wasn't sure when or if this day would have ever come. It was not because he lacked faith in Wynonna; it was because it felt way too good to be true. Their daughter was returning home. Alice, was coming home. It had been 3 years since he'd held her for the first and last time. 3 since from that day, it took to break the curse. But now, it was broken. No more Revenants. No more curse. No more danger. Alice could finally come home.
Doc had been so focused on seeing her again that the rest of it was slowly sinking in. The knowledge that he knew nothing apart from what he researched about parenthood. She was 3 years old. And he hadn't been there for a moment -- except the first few seconds of her life. Would she like him? Would he even be a good father? Where did they go from here? So many questions. And the nervousness had Doc pacing back and forth on the front porch of the Homestead, where he and Wynonna were waiting for the car that was carrying their daughter.

With Doc the more he felt the less he said. With Wynonna it was the opposite. Where he was still she was on edge. She had cleaned the whole house, brought back all her pillows, paced the house, checked to be sure there was a room ready 6 times, paced the house, snapped at everyone, apologized to almost part of that everyone, and paced the house.
Alice was safe. They'd done it. They'd stuck together and done it. Now Alice was coming. Walking up to where Doc sat she held up a pretty pink rattle with a purple bow on it. "I bought her one of those little maraca things." She joked, but it sounded a little flat to her. A reminder when she hadn't known what the rattle was for when she first saw it. She wanted to be able to give Alice something. Apologize for giving her up. Apologize for sending her away. For taking so long to get her back. For being a shit Mom.

darlin' I'M EVERYBODY'S TYPE Doc continued to pace, back and forth on the porch, stopping only when Wynonna approached him with a rattle. He couldn't hep but smile at it . . . not having the heart to tell her that their daughter was not a baby anymore. She was young, yes but had outgrown a rattle. Still. The gesture brought a smile to his lips and allowed him to at least stop pacing for the next few moments.
"It's precious," he told her, a smile still upon his lips. "I am certain she will love it." Because it was from her mother. A mother who loved her. Who made a sacrifice to keep her safe. They had so much lost time to make up for and Doc couldn't only so desperately hope, that one day . . . Alice would understand. That one day, Alice would forgive them.

| if i'm a danger to myself Just think what I could do to you |
Doc stopped pacing and told her that Alice would love it. Wynonna hoped so, even while she knew the rattle meant more to her then it did Alice. She shook it a little, while trying to calm her nerves. They'd missed so much in Alice's life that Wynonna didn't know where to begin. How did you take a three year old and not screw her up?
"You're staying right?" She asked, something she'd asked before. He was staying here at the house where they could do this together. She didn't know if she could do this by herself. Having Doc near by was the only reason she wasn't freaking out more. Just as she asked, Wynonna could see the car int he distance. Since the ground was flat, you could see people coming from a good ways away. Reaching for his hand she gripped it tightly.
