As long as it remains by her side, and no one else. He was still talking about the gun, and her giving it up. Wynonna looked around the barn as if there would be something there to make a joke about, or to distract them from this but then she looked back at him. "What was I supposed to do?" She asked, knowing that his answer would be to not give it up. Keep fighting. Never give in. THAT was easy to say! It was always easy to say! Words could be spoken without the trust feeling of the impact behind them!
She'd lost track of how many times she'd died, how many times she'd listen to him trying to hide the panic from her. Trying to keep her going! She had listened to him laying there in fear for hours or days! Each time she'd failed in saving him and had to start ALL OVER AGAIN! She couldn't get to him, and each time he got covered with more and more dirt! AND JUST when she had hope that she might have saved him--he was back underground! She'd dug the grave with her own hands and covered him up. Could hear the panic in his voice even as he told her to not give up Peacemaker. It had broke her. "I couldn't let you die again." She'd broken, and was too weak to keep going. Doc was her weakness. She loved him more then herself. So she'd given up the gun.
And now she was on a roll, and a little upset! Not at him, so much as at everything. She knew everyone blamed her for that but she was a big girl. She could take it. Doc however-- "Maybe I did give up in there." She told him, looking at him while she tossed out words. "I could see you're face. He put that right in front of me, so that every time I died--and It died A LOT!--I would start all over and watch you get more and more covered with dirt. The harder I fought to get to you, Doc, the more I died and the more you got covered." Her voice shook with the memory. "And then finally--FINALLY--I got to you and I thought . . . I did it! I had just a little bit of hope because I thought we have done it. And he put you right back in the ground. I had to dig that gave. I had to listen to you under there. I couldn't do it any more. I couldn't listen to you slowly dying in the worst way you knew how."
"I gave up. And even knowing how it ended, I'd do it again. Id' rather fight a loosing war with you, then win without you." Because as she said in the dream thing, she loved him.

This was why she didn't deserve him. This was why he was too good for her. Wynonna stepped forward and hugged him tightly, so grateful in this moment that he was here. Her face buried into his shirt, and she inhaled the smell of him. Her emotions were already on the surface, and she was unable to hide just how much this meant to her.
Pulling back from the hug, Wynonna looked up at him, lifting her hands to wipe her cheeks. "I don't deserve you in my life, but I am not willing to give you up. Thank you." For her and for Alice. For everything!
She had wanted Doc to be the father anyway, and had told him as much a few moments ago. Now he was. In a way. However, after just thinking on Daddy and Waverly, she wanted to make sure she was doing better then her Mama and being clear in what she expected. "It ate at Daddy, I think. Knowing Waverly wasn't his." She looked up at Doc, lifting her hand to touch his cheek. "Don't let it do that too you. She should have been yours anyway." And that she meant with her whole heart. Daddy drank for many reasons, but one of them was because Mama hadn't picked him first. "I still want it to be you."

It would be so easy to hit him with the stick and run. He was talking about Daddy's gun. He looked over her body--something she had wanted him to do 2 minutes ago and now she didn't--looking for the gun. "It's somewhere you'll never find it." She tossed out, letting him know that she knew what he was looking for. No one knew where to to find it. After she'd shot Daddy, she'd thrown it down a well. One that was so deep she couldn't really see the bottom of, in hopes that it would stop this day from ever coming. But lucky for her, she had her birthday anyway, she was the Heir anyway. And now she was facing a Revenant anyway. Maybe.
He told her they should talk away from others--since the last time she ended up in the psych ward. He didn't say it in any way. In fact his tone was not gleeful in any manner--but it made her hands tighten over the stick, and her shoulders tense. She was defiantly about to hit him. It was a good thing she was getting smarter in her old age, because she also knew she needed the information he had. Then--she was going to kick him in the balls and find her gun and send him back to hell.
"Ladies first," because she was sure as heck not turning her back on him. As he moved to take them up stairs, Wynonna looked around for another weapon. Sitting the ball down she grabbed the whiskey. Something she intended to drink before smashing it over his head. As she followed him toward the steps, leaving distance between them, she commented, "You're making yourself right at home at Shorties." Which made her wonder why he thought he could.

Play time was over.
He hit the ball, and she reached out to grab it before it could go in the hole. No more games. Wynonna held onto her stick tightly, ready to use it as a weapon. Was he a Revenant? Not many people knew about them--her stint in the psych ward was proof of that. And here this stranger was talking to her about them as if it was casual. "What do you know?" She asked, her guard up, as she tried to figure out what she should do.
If he was a Revenant she couldn't kill him. She didn't have Daddy's gun. It was down a well someone on the homestead, were she had planned to never see it again. Now she was missing it a little. "John," her tone suggested that she found the name important, or a lie. Walking closer to him, slowly, moving around the table, the ball in one hand, the stick in the other. Weapons. "Cause it seems you're trying to say something." And she would get it out of him--one way or another. Wynonna had been on her own enough to know how to 'bar fight' even if she didn't know how to combat fight.

He was going to make her say it. That was fair. If she was going to ask it of him, knowing that he would never tell her no in anything she asked of him, then she had to at least be brave enough to say it out loud. She was such a chicken shit, and had hoped he'd understand with out her needing to explain it. She hated herself for asking this of him, knowing she was using his feelings for her to her advantage, but this was Alice. If she didn't then Alice would never be safe.
Still, her request was not just for Alice. She wanted Doc apart of this. She wanted him to be there a part of this family. She wanted Alice to know two parents like she had . . . when . . . she . . . was . . . little. Daddy. Waverly. The drinking.
Could she ask this of him the way Mama had asked this of Daddy when it came to Waverly? Wynonna pulled away from Doc and walked over to the couch to lay the baby down, making sure there was a pillow near by to keep her from rolling. They rolled right? They rolled and crawled around.
Turning back to Doc she slowly walked forward to him. "If you want to--you could say she was yours." Wynonna said, looking at him, but hating herself. "I hate myself for asking this of you." But for her daughter, she'd do anything. "You have every right to tell me no and storm out of here." But she hoped he wouldn't. "Part of me even hopes you do." It was fair to him. The only way to be fair to him. "The other part of me, needs you. Needs you stay and . . . needs your name." Alice Michelle Holliday. Protected.

His words didn't make it seem like an accusation, but they felt like it anyway. The first thing he had said when they had been awoken was 'tell me you didn't give up Wyatt's gun'. Stepping back a little, her hand lifted to her hair as she brushed it back, before it dropped down to lightly smack her leg. "And you gave up you're mortality." She returned in the same tone he used. A defense mannerism.
She knew what he was asking though. "I got it back," and just in time to be named a hero who could wield a fancy sword! "It's a sword now. I wield a sword now. How bad ass did I upgrade!" She joked, knowing she was avoiding the topic. The thing was, she had given up the gun after hearing Doc die over and over and over and over, slowly in his own personal hell. Slowly being buried under dirt more and more, and each time she failed in saving him. They'd used him to break her. She loved him. In the end, she'd weakly given up the gun, knowing that it would bring an in end to the world if she didn't stop it; because she loved Doc too much to hear him die. Again and again.
She knew it was his fear. That he couldn't stand the dark, and the small places. They'd made him unable to move, and then put his face right before her so she could watch him, and hear him. He asked her to try, and she tried, and tried but could never get to him. And then she did! She saved him once. Only to have him put in a grave, alive and scared to do it again. Along with Waverly. Wynonna had always thought she was this strong lone warrior who had a kick ass team behind her. She'd learned that day she was not the lone wolf--she loved him too much. So she'd given up the best chance they had at saving the world for him. And she didn't know how she felt about it. Or how he felt about it.

Fuck.
Wynonna froze for a moment, taken off guard. She hated being caught unaware. She'd assumed the sexy stranger was just that, but apparently he knew who she was. He could taken 100 shots that moment because she wasn't playing attention to the game. "You knew him?" She told him, while trying to figure out if she should know him.
Her uncle's death was why she was still in town. She knew that it wasn't natural like Gus said. There was too many details that didn't add up. If Gus wasn't going to push it then she would. And Wynonna was a heavy pusher. Later. Right now she was trying to place this face, and find out how he fit in here. "That why you're here?"

Touched by an Angel. That sounded like she could make a joke but right now she could only focus on some of the details here. Julian was an Angel. Waverly was part Angel. Which meant Doc had killed an Angel, and then been saved by one. Moving another step closer to where he was standing, Wynonna tried to figure this out. Admittedly she was slow sometimes.
He was mortal! No longer would be spend entirety with Kate. In the end, that was her take away. Stepping forward more she wrapped her arms around him. While she was still upset that he'd done it--Wynonna was just glad Doc--HER DOC--was back were he belonged. "Stay that way." She warned pulling back from the hug. He said he'd done it for her and Alice but that was bullshit. They needed him here. His heart but his fangs.

He was such an asshole. Why did he have to be such an asshole. Doc told her that he knew he couldn't claim Alice as his, and she wondered why he would even want too. This was his chance to not have to deal with any of this. He could use it as a way to put distance between them, and save his heart from the damage she was already doing to him and everyone around him.
But there three major reasons to not send him away. The first, and most important one, and maybe event he hardest to admit allowed--she needed him. She needed his calm demeaner, and quick wit. She needed him to help her do this because she wasn't sure she could. While she knew Dolls and others would always be there--Waverly and Doc were the ones she needed to stay right now. Second was the need to protect Alice. People were after her, and maybe always would be. Doc was loyal to the ones he loved, and she knew that with him around they were a little safer.
Which brought her to three--a newer idea and one she hated herself for asking of him. The first two were just who Doc was. The third one was her asking more of him then she had a right too. She wasn't ignoring what he was saying just before, because this was related in it's own way. If he was offering, she'd take it. "They can't know." She said softly, looking at Alice then at him. "They can't know she'd one of them." Which means if he wanted too, she could claim her as such.

Yeah, she liked that. The way he talked in her ear made her bit her lip a little. "An honest gentlemen?" She pointed out, since he promised not to hustle her and even let her go first. "And here I thought you were my type." Another tease, because she had made it clear he was. However, the good guys weren't normally the ones that ended up in bars in shady towns and looking at hot messes like her.
She bent low over the table and lined up her shot, making sure that he had a good view down her shirt before she took it. The balls scattered as she stood. "Soilds," were going to be her color since that was what went in. Moving crossed in front of him, making sure her jean clad ass brushed up against him as she did. "I'll just slide by here." Then she took another shot. It bounced off the wall, it was his turn.

He listed off everyone who was there for her, and she knew that in a way he was right. Waverly was her ride or die. She'd always be there for her. The others--yeah. They would be here until they were. She liked them, and she'd fight for them, and be upset if they went away--but it wouldn't kill her.
Tilting her face up she watched Doc as he stare at the baby. He added himself tot he list. Looking at her, he told her he was all in. That was when her heart broke. That was when everything that had been inside of her broke down. She had to hold Alice tighter for fear that her unsteady hands out drop her. She looked away and closed her eyes, trying to control the tsunami of emotions that hit her RIGHT when she was already emotionally fragile from the birth.
Looking back up at him, she blinked away the few tears that were there. "It's not fair of me to ask that of you." She admitted, wanting him to know that she knew what she was doing was unfair to him in every way. "But I'm a selfish bitch and I want you to stay." NEEDED him to stay.
Reaching for his hand she took it in her own and put a death grip on it. Held it for a while as she took deep breaths to calm herself. "I named her Alice before I knew for sure who the father was. Because that was who she belonged too in my mind." In her heart.

Wynonna knew he was asking about more then just what was happening here tonight, but about the last few days. "She's got Nicole. Waves says together they will be alright." Which was good for Wynonna. She wanted her sister happy, and she hadn't known what to think about Nicole at first but she liked her for her sister now. It was why she'd not hesitated in asking Charlie . . . Julian? to save her live. No matter the cost. Waverly wasn't loosing anyone else if she could help it. Even Bobo's death would be hard on Waverly since it was a life she'd taken. Poor kid.
Walking closer to him, Wynonna stood closer and looked down at him sitting there. "Doc . . . " she begin. But she only stared at him, trying to figure out what was going on here. "The boarder wouldn't let anyone not mortal in." She told him, trying to figure out how to asking him. "I thought Kate turned you?" In fact she knew Kate had. "You bit Robin, and Charlie, so I know you were turned--but you crossed the boarder and it wouldn't let you do that . . . " There wasn't even a sassy comment right now because she was trying to understand. "How?"

Doc pulled her into him and kissed her, and the kiss both calmed her handing hands, and increased the guilt in her. She didn't deserve this. She didn't deserve this kindness and unwavering support from someone who could have taken this as his out. Doc had always had this blind loyalty that both made her feel safe and made her feel like running to the hills. Wynonna had never quite figured out which one she should do first, but right now she couldn't run. She needed him, and she was using him to get what she needed and she hated herself for it.
If Wyatt was even half of Doc, no wonder he had led them to this.
She leaned into his pillar of strength, and just held Alice. Letting him hold her. It wasn't fair of her to ask him to stay, but she wasn't sure she couldn't not ask him. "I don't know how to do this." She admitted, finding that asking him for help was harder then she imagined--because first she needed to ask him to forgive her. Something she'd never done often to anyone.

Not her fight? Who did he think she was? She picked her fights with the upmost care! . . . and she picked ALL the fights! "The shit it's not!" She told him, not about to let him give up on himself. He made the choice to stick around and help out. He made the choice to be apart of this team. He made the choice to make her fall in . . . "I'm not going to loose you." Not to something she felt like she could help him fight.
"Why do you think you are fated to go there? What could have you have done that was unforgivable?" She asked, trying to see what she was up against. Her hand hadn't left his arm, but now it shifted as she stepped closer. The knowledge that she could loose him to this fight was upsetting, and she could only imagine how he felt. Her fingers drifted down to his wrist were she was trying to offer him comfort by slipping her fingers around his skin--but she felt the wound there and her face jerked down to look.

His grin drew her in and made her smile in return. "Oh, I am sure we could find a few adult games to amuse us thought the afternoon." She told him, leaning in as well and letting her voice hold double meanings. Her fingers circled the rim of her glass slowly while she let the words hand in the air between them like a promise, and a tease. She made sure the silence was just enough that he knew what she was offering.
Later.
"Like pool!" Standing she grabbed her drink and backed the few steps over tot he pool table. No one was using it right now, so she sat her drink the rim and walked around it to collect the balls to begin racking them. "I assume someone who looks so at ease in a bar knows how to play?" She asked, just making sure.
